My 10 Best
(In no particular order)
Songs From Books
In 1978 my late grandmother managed to find a secondhand copy of a book containing Rudyard Kipling’s poem called If. We had both visited his house near Burwash, East Sussex when I first came across this poem. At the time I was 18 and was on remand in solitary confinement in Holloway Prison. I was allowed one book. I remember reading the poem again and again to get a better understanding of what I believed to be a blueprint for being the best version of myself. At the time I was completely lost and in a very dark place ( literally and emotionally) with a bleak future ahead of me. I promised myself that if I was ever released, I would do my best to live by these ‘rules’. I saw the poem as a glimpse into what life would be like if I could manage my emotions better. Years later, I recognised that the poem was teaching ‘non-attachment’. [page 149.]
The Celestine Prophecy
My autobiography was published in 1992 in hardback ( Bantam Books) and 1993 (Corgi) My editor kept in touch over the years and sent me a copy of The Celestine Prophecy that they had just published. It was my first introduction to energy and I particularly liked the section on Control Dramas. Years later when I was running events for corporate leaders I designed an exercise focused on this and used Dowsing so that every leader had a tangible demonstration of their impact energetically on others.
Conversations With God Book 1
I’d just gone through a divorce and was juggling working with bringing up a toddler ( Rosie). My favourite way to relax was reading in the bath after I’d put my daughter to bed. I vividly remember this book because for the first time I felt the presence of a divine energy as I was reading. It was a huge moment that caused me to cry with relief that I wasn’t alone in the world - I was being held by ‘God’.
You Can Heal Your Life
I recall reading an article about the author and how she healed herself of cancer by changing her thoughts. Initially, I was skeptical until I started to look at the list of physical problems and how they can manifest in the body. Over the years this has become an ongoing reference book that has helped me to craft questions to my clients based on their presenting physical issues. Years later I delivered masterclasses at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre where attendees tested the efficacy and impact of relevant affirmations using a wobble board. If they could balance then their affirmation was right for them in that moment.
Ask and It is Given
I had built a sales toolkit that I was trying to launch and had borrowed extensively in the belief that it was going to be brilliant. In truth I see now that I lacked commercial experience. I’d heard about The Secret and watched the DVD and was particularly impressed by Esther Hicks, so much so that I bought this book. I thought that if I desired something badly enough ( success with my business) it would manifest. Instead I lost everything and eventually went bankrupt. This book helped me to understand the depth of manifesting and the importance of clearing up your vibrational frequency. Anything that doesn’t feel good is feedback that you’re out of alignment with your inner being.
Think and Grow Rich
One rainy afternoon I was looking for inspiration to conclude a book I was writing. I was drawn to this book on my shelf and I’d opened it on ‘The 13th step - The Sixth Sense - the door to the temple of wisdom.’ I loved Hill’s idea of his Imaginary Cabinet and decided to create his experiment. The year was 2013 ( I liked that 13 felt portentous) I held this channeling event on 26 October, Hill’s birthday. I invited 13 intuitives to channel a famous deceased leader of their choosing with a trusted psychic medium. The event was recorded and observed. At the time I was working with CEOs and asked many of them to develop questions to ask these ‘ deceased’ leaders. It was an amazing moment in my life and helped me understand the power of infinite intelligence and how we can all access a vast array of wisdom from everyone who has ever lived because we are all connected.
The Intention Experiment
Using various scientifically controlled experiments this book builds a strong case for ‘Thoughts and focused intentions become your physical reality’. It was a hard read yet it inspired me to create my own experiment ‘The Big Apple Experiment’ where I used two halves of an apple to show how different emotions affect how the Apple decays.
The Biology of Belief
Explored the link between emotions and cellular response. 60 trillion cells can be operating in survival or growth. This core principle had a profound impact and I began teaching it to business leaders and highlighting behaviors that indicate a survival or growth operating mechanism. Again, I used dowsing to monitor the energetic impact on being in survival or growth.
The Journey
I was working with many clients individually using a combination of hypnosis and childhood reframing to help heal trauma and emotional wounds. I was seeking a way to help groups, and as I read this author’s process, I started using it in various ways with different tweaks with groups. I learned and subsequently taught others how to drop through their emotional layers until they felt the divine spark within them. When you feel connected to divine love it neutralises and clears all other negative emotions. Her technique reminded me of The Drop Down Through technique I’d learned during my hypnotherapy training.
The Signs
I have had a big fascination with NDEs without realising that one day I would have one! On 15 February 2025 I had a cardiac arrest that left me paralysed from chest down. When I became conscious I had no memory about what happened and yet I knew I’d gained a feeling of peace and ease. A friend of mine sent me a book while I was in hospital recovering and I learned the impact of intuition, reading the unexpected signs and trusting my sixth sense. I knew that chasing miracle cures was not what this event had intended. Instead, I was shown to slow down and take a deeper journey inwards. Appreciate the physical signs of divine love guiding me. I felt an inner gnosis and freedom that the wisdom out there could be accessed in here.
