My 10 Best

(In no particular order)

Dancing the Dream

This deeply transformative book by Native American elder Jamie Sams was my lighthouse during profound spiritual experiences in my mid-twenties. Her storytelling and insights of the seven sacred paths of human spiritual development gave me much needed clarity for the transformations I was going through during my many years of spiritual retreat. A must-read for developing our energetic awareness of the spiritual path, and the wisdom of Mother Earth and our animal relations.

Autobiography of a Yogi

This spiritual classic opened me to the wider realities that I experienced in my dreams and visions, but never knew how to share with others. I felt so relieved reading this beautiful book of Paramahansa’s own life, and felt reconnected with a soul family of spiritual beings that have supported our human evolution for eons. It felt like coming home as this book provided me with the spiritual nourishment I was searching for, and couldn’t find in my Dutch culture at that time.

The Cosmic Hologram

This breakthrough book by my dear friend and cosmologist, Dr. Jude Currivan, came at a pivotal time in my life when I was in the middle of my PhD. research on systemic transformation. I was searching for a way to better describe the informational dynamics I had been exploring and observing in living systems. Jude brings together some of the most important scientific discoveries from quantum physics and informational sciences in this book. She explains how we live in a fundamentally unified universe of meaningful information. By reinterpreting the first two laws of thermodynamics as laws of informational dynamics, whole new horizons open up to better understand the evolutionary direction of complexity, the nonlocal nature of reality, as well as the universe as a living Cosmic Hologram. After reading her book, I reached out to Jude and this led to a wonderful collaboration and friends out of which emerged several of our co-authored journal articles and book chapter publications.

Consciousness and the Universe

This reality-shiting book became an essential guide during my search for a deeper understanding of quantum physics and the cosmological foundations of consciousness. The collection of essays from leading scientists and futurists about the nature and foundations of consciousness, influenced much of my own thinking and research on consciousness and the Cosmic architecture of the universe. It really helped me to consolidate these explorations in the scientific foundations for our Future Humans Trilogy, which I co-authored with my dear friend Dr. Jean Houston.

The Grail Enigma

This fascinating book helped me understand many things I have seen, experienced, and dreamed of from my Merovingian ancestry. It provides an in-depth exploration of the bloodline of Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene, and their descendants. As well as the deeper meaning of the Grail, and how the fate of the messianic line became encoded in the Grail legend of King Arthur.

The Art of Dreaming

This is another one of those books that profoundly impacted my life when I went through life-changing spiritual experiences in my late twenties and early thirties. In the book the author shares about his apprenticeship with the Yaqui Indian sorcerer, don Juan Matus. As a dreamer myself, the exercises and consciousness shifting experiences in this book provided important feedback and further understanding for how to navigate between the multi-worlds. I did have the impression, however, that some of the codes that were shared in the book were partially true on purpose. As if to protect a deeper reality behind the words that only reveals itself through the direct transmissions on the path of revelation. It felt like reading two books in one, an outer book with the captivating stories, and a hidden book behind the stories.

Nelson Mandela: Portrait of an Extraordinary Man

Learning more about Nelson Mandela as a person, his life story and his powerful insights on life and leadership gave me strength and hope during many of my own hardships. His clarity and strength of mind, to not become his circumstance but rather his destiny, was a lighthouse on my path. In 1996, I went to finish my last year of law school at Pretoria University in South Africa, two years after apartheid ended. Nelson Mandela had just come to power and his presence in the nation was powerful and transformative. He role modeled for me what it means to work with the readiness of time and the courage to lead for what is necessary.

Crystal Clear

I read this book in my mid-twenties and then re-read it many times over the years. These essential Dzogchen teachings helped me to become aware of the ever-present ground luminosity of my consciousness, and consciousness as fundamental reality. Providing essential pathways for progressing through our self-realization of the enlightened mind. It really helped me to see through the projections of my mind, as well as to become aware of the mechanism of projection, and how to become the dynamic observer as a clear mirror in which all is reflected yet one’s own essential nature is unchanged.

Voices of the First Day

This living library of knowledge and wisdom from the oldest continuous living culture on Earth, the Australian Aborigines, is a must-read for all who want to gain a deeper sourcing of our own humanity. Lawlor did a remarkable job. When I checked the information in this book with my Australian Aboriginal friends, during my years in Australia, they commended how remarkably accurate Lawlor’s accounts are. I’ve read this book again and again, as each time it opened me to further understandings of our relationship with the Earth, the laws of the Dreamtime, and our oneness with life. With deep appreciation for the civilizational advancement of these indigenous societies, in ways that Western cultures have rarely acknowledged.

The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying

This is another book that made a profound impact on my life. During my seven years of full-time meditation I started to develop a keen interest in the rainbow body of light and the practices for conscious dying. On a quest to learn the practices of higher forms of transformation and transmutation, this book provided essential insights in the dissolution of the elemental bodies and the shifts in consciousness this produces. This spiritual classic also supported me with essential insights for how to guide my grandparents through their transition at their moment of death, and the bardo stages after death.
